Marshmallow Root is an amazing herb used mainly to relieve the symptoms of cough, sore throat, and upset stomach. It also helps people with chapped skin and helps speed the healing of wounds. In addition, it is used for its well-known ability to fight infection and to boost your immune system.It also Relieves Symptoms from the Common Cold and Flu.

Marshmallow, or althea root, contains a high percentage of mucilage. Mucilage is a substance that swells up and takes on a gel like consistency when it is mixed with water. This gel like substance can then coat the inner lining of your throat and esophagus and help protect and soothe it making it an ideal additive to natural cough and sore throat remedies.

It really is one of the best herbs to treat an ulcerated digestive system. It should come as no surprise that Marshmallow Root has been used for over two thousand years in Europe. Its first recorded use was in the ninth century BCE. It was widely used in Greek medicine. Its name Althea comes from the Greek aitho, meaning, “to cure”.

Marshmallow root and leaf both contain natural gummy substance- mucilage which is insoluble in water. When exposed to fluids, marshmallow swells up and becomes slick. This slippery material helps in relieving irritation in throat and controls coughing when get coated with the linings of mouth, throat and stomach.

While great to use in the house, marshmallow guns are even more fun outside. Gather all your friends and relatives and have a paint ball like capture the flag type of game. Kind of like tag with marshmallow guns. The beauty is that you can do this just about anywhere outside.

 Take your favorite marshmallow & crispy rice treat recipe and substitute different cereals for a different cereal sensation. You can also slip some dried fruit and nuts in to make it more healthy. My favorite is crispy rice cereal with some toasted oatmeal, toasted pumpkin seeds, and dried cranberries mixed in!

Marshmallow Leaf Extract should be taken 1 – 2 mL of the two to three times a day; a typical Marshmallow Root Extract dosage would be 2 – 5 mL up to three times a day.

On the table, a marshmallow is placed on a plate, and the child is told they can eat the marshmallow if they want, or they can wait and get a second marshmallow if they wait to eat the first marshmallow until they get the second marshmallow.
