Things to Keep your Skin Healthy This Summer

Posted on May 20, 2014 By Noor Lifestyle No Comments on Things to Keep your Skin Healthy This Summer
As summer approaches, it’s time to start paying attention to the damage that the sun can do to your complexion. The reason is because by exposing your skin directly to the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays, it can result in you suffering from premature aging of the skin. Hence, it is imperative that you take steps to protect your skin from the harmful effects of the sun.

To keep your skin in good condition, and prolong your tan a lot of moisturizing is required. Use a rich nourishing cream at least twice a day. Whilst on holiday a good sunscreen is absolutely essential to avoid premature skin aging and burning.

The summer heat, combined with the harmful UV radiation and the pollution saps the moisture from your skin and thus your skin lose the natural glow. When the skin is not sufficiently moisturized, your sebaceous glands produces thin yellow fluid called sebum which covers the outer layer of the skin and protects your skin.

Warm weather and UV rays dry out your natural oils quickly and lead to that frizzy, awful look that many of us dread when we see the sun above us without a cloud in the sky. Overnight conditioning treatments can revitalize the hair and lock in moisture that is lost during the day. Look for products that add moisture specifically for best results.

Keep blemishes at bay with a daily cleansing regimen. For acne-prone skin, try Murad’s Clarifying Cleanser, which eliminates bacteria, heals blemishes, and prevents breakouts.

Enjoy the wonderful fruits and salads of summer. There are so many lighter options during the summertime! Be sure to pack healthy snacks, such as nuts or fruit, for your trips and activities.

Food rich in omega 3 fatty acids will restore your skin’s healthy glow. Some good choices are tuna, salmon, walnuts, pomegranate and flax-seed oil.

Moisturizers that build a subtle tan over a period of time are a great way to boost your skin’s radiance in the run up to summer. They also keep your skin moisturized which can help prevent wrinkles, keep your skin from becoming flaky and make you feel much better for not having dry skin!

Look for lotions that have petroleum jelly or glycerin in them. Foot gels such as these can cut through all those dead layers and keep your feet soft. But first, remove dead skin by exfoliating your feet so that the moisturizer can sink in faster and deeper. Winter time is a great time to splurge on those pedicures as well.
