For a thinner line, use the pencil sideways so that it is essentially parallel to your lid. This forces you to use a lighter hand, and therefore you will get a lighter and thinner line. Another trick to get a thinner line is to draw the line halfway between your lid and your lash line.
For color on the bottom lashes you’ll want to use an eyeliner pencil because you need something easy to smudge. Once the line is drawn, run your finger over it to smudge the line. You can also apply a bit of shadow to get full smudge effect.
Eyeliner can be found in liquid, powder, wax, kohl, and even gel varieties. Each type will produce a different effect. Liquid eyeliner comes in a bottle and makes a precise and even stroke. Powder-based comes in the form of a pencil. Wax-based comes in pencil form or in a compact with a brush applicator.
Applying eyeliner to the outside corner only. If you want your eyeliner to look, well weird, apply liner to the bottom and upper lash line and only go in as far as the outside of the pupil. Not only will this make it look like you forgot to finish your makeup, but be sure not to blend the line inward at all to accentuate the unfinished look.
