The foods were natural, unprocessed, and organic (and contained no sugar except for the occasional bit of honey or maple syrup). Our ancestors ate foods that grew in their native environment, and they ate seasonal foods. Many of our ancestors ate unpasteurized dairy products and fermented foods.
Many foods today are harmful to the human body. Preservatives take much of the nutrients out of food and make them dangerous to the body. Shelf life of food today is longer today due to chemicals being put in our foods. The chemicals are toxic to the body. This is why America is so overweight. Fast food is a major cause of this epidemic.
Eating small meals throughout the day will also stabilize blood sugar levels and cravings will stop. When you eat just three meals a day or less, your sugar levels dip and you are more likely to eat unhealthy snacks.Never skip meals, especially breakfast.
Our eating habits may be constrained by our health. Individuals with diabetes, for example, must follow a certain regimen regarding sweets, whereas people with heart problems need to avoid salt.
Must serve more fruits and vegetables than fruit juice. Give water when your child is thirsty, especially between meals and snacks. Limit juice to one serving (120 ml [4 oz]) of unsweetened 100% juice per day.
Unless we change our habits regarding what and how we eat, and stop consuming fast food, rich foods in restaurants and junk foods, and start eating more nutritious meals at home so our children begin to develop good eating habits, its going to be difficult to change the landscape of our population.
