Healthier hair is a product of lifestyle. Whatever you eat and how you look after yourself is reflected in your hair. Some non-diet ideas to get healthy hair include washing with sulfate free shampoos, washing every second day, combing your hair when it’s dry and not wet, and reducing the usage of hot tools.

The amount of anti-oxidants in high fibrous foods such as fruits and vegetables are high which helps your body to flush out toxins with ease and prevents loss of your beautiful tresses. One should include lots of richly colored fruits and vegetables in their prescribed diet that yield fruitful results. 

There are few other foods you can eat that are going to provide you with the amount of protein and vitamin D your hair requires like salmon will. It is a great source of protein and vitamin D. What makes it even better is it is low in fat, can be prepared in a healthy way, and it taste great. Salmon also contains a nice amount of omega 3 fatty acids. 

Spinach is an excellent source of vitamin-A and vitamin-C, which your body needs to produce sebum. Sebum is the natural scalp oil secreted by hair follicles. It works as the body’s natural hair conditioner.

Okra can be lightly cooked leaving it firm and crunchy, or it can be cooked until soft or broken down as in Gumbo. Okra is a great food because it is filling, low in calories and very nutritious.

Everybody knows that beans provide a rich source of protein. So don’t underestimate these tiny little beans. They can be boiled, baked, or cooked in soup. They also contain lots of calcium, iron and more importantly, biotin. Biotin helps to prevent hair from becoming too brittle.

You should understand that drinking alcohol may cause some negative side effects on your hair. Some studies show that alcohol can cause dry hair problems. Therefore, you should reduce your alcohol consumption if you want to grow your healthy hair properly. You should also avoid using any products that contain alcohol as their ingredient.

Vitamin supplements can also be taken to stimulate the growth of healthy hair. It is important however to note that vitamins should be taken in doses as recommended by a medical doctor, because excess intake of vitamins can cause hair loss and be fatal.
