Bathing Your Baby Safely and Easily

Posted on August 14, 2011 By Noor Lifestyle No Comments on Bathing Your Baby Safely and Easily
First of all, you always need to watch your baby. There is nothing more important than keeping an eye on your baby during their bath. No matter what the distractions are, never leave the room. People often get up for phone calls, etc, this is always a dangerous situation!

A baby will move around a lot when in this seemingly huge bath tub. They are naturally curious and have no concept of what can happen if they were to slip in the water. They are also quite hard to manage when they are covered in slick soap and this causes mom and dad a good deal of concern.

Prepare all of the bathing equipments you might need before you start your baby shower and place them near you. Things like towels, blankets, diapers and clothes should be ready. Of course don’t forget to have wash-clothes and those cleaning stuffs close to you.

Ensure that your water heater is set to 120F and never allow your baby to have more than 2 to 3 inches of water as an infant or above their waist line if they are sitting up in the tub. Ensure that you use a rubber mat on the bottom of your bathtub so that your baby does not slip on the slick surface. Be sure that you do not store any electrical items close to the bathtub, including hair dyers or electric razors.

A baby bath seat is a very easy to use small chair that you put into the bath tub for your child to sit in while he or she is bathing. It will protect him or her from the hazards of drowning which can be an issue while bathing your child. In addition it will make bath time more fun and filled with less anxiety as you can better focus on bathing and playing with him or her rather than trying to continuously hold up the child while manipulating other items in the tub at the same time.

As a parent, you want your child to be comfortable in the bath. So you may purchase a baby seat to place in the tub. Even though the seat aids in keeping your baby upright, it is not secure enough for you to walk away at any time. Never leave your child more than and arm length away while he or she is bathing.

To safely bathe your baby, always keep one hand on the baby and gently wash with the other. Holding your baby by the armpit is a great way to maintain control, and prevents baby from slipping out of your hand. Paying close attention to your baby is the most important part of keeping your baby safe.

The main draw to the baby bath seat for most parents is that the task of bathing the baby is so much easier when a seat is used. And because you can worry less about baby slipping away when he is all lathered up, you will have more time to concentrate on playing with baby and having fun in the tub. Using a one of these seats is easy: Simply strap baby into the seat and they will be safely seated for the bath while you do the work that needs to be done.

Get everything together before it is time to bath baby. Have all the lotions, soap and towels prepared before hand to be sure you will not have to leave baby unattended for even a short period of time. Have clothing on hand that baby will wear after the bath.
